According to U.K. Customs statistics, from January to March 2007, the Sino-U.K. trade volume totaled 5.08 bn GBP, up by 56.55% over the same period last year.
U.K.’s imports from China reached 4.303 bn GBP, up by 55.40% while its exports to China was 777 mn GBP, rose by 62.89% quarter on quarter, which resulted in a trade deficit of 3.526 bn GBP, up by 53.84% over the same period last year.
From January through March 2007, U.K.’s main imported commodities from China were: various processed products (630 mn GBP), textiles and garments (594 mn GBP), electronic machinery and equipments (387 mn GBP) and office equipments (368 mn GBP).
U.K.’s main exports to China were: metal ores and scraps (105 mn GBP), nonferrous Metal (65 mn GBP), Power-generating machinery and equipments (64 mn GBP) and electronic machinery and equipments (64 mn GBP).
