Schindellegi: Kuehne&Nagel International, a Swiss freight and logistics company, said Monday profit in the nine months through September rose 45 percent on higher demand for its sea- and air-freight services.

    Net income rose to US0.3 million from 2.36 million in the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement. The company did not break out results for the quarter.

    Kuehne & Nagel's sea-freight business outperformed the rest of the industry, registering growth of 19 percent compared with an average 9 percent to 10 percent among its rivals.

    Air-freight business rose 11 percent, compared with an industry average of 5 percent in the first nine months of the year.

    "We are confident of exceeding previous full-year results again in 2006," said Chief Executive Klaus Herms.

    Kuehne & Nagel shares dipped 3.5 percent to .85 in Zurich.
